William Darby letter, 1815.

The letter, written from Opelousas, Saint Landry Parish, Louisiana, relates Darby's association with General Edmund Pendleton Gaines in the construction of Fort Darby at the confluence of Bayou Terre, and Bayou Boeuf and Lake Levy. The letter describes the surrender of Fort Bowyer to the British troops and other matters related to the War of 1812.
